Of course we got the console version at long last back in 2016, and knowing the mistakes I’d made with the PC version I opted for the Defiant Class and never regretted the choice, nimble and quick on its thrusters (was going to say feet, seemed wrong somehow). Another let down because of a terrible turn rate, I believe they made a more agile version with the Fleet variance but I never bothered beyond the one I had.

Even with RCS consoles it doesn’t help much! So this was quickly swapped out once I was able to level up. Then in 2013 they released the Legacy of Romulus Expansion, awesome I thought! I can finally own the D’Deridex Class Warbird! Another of my all-time favourite ships and yes another MAJOR let down 😦 Yet again it looks menacing and can take a kicking when built right but man it takes almost 2 minutes to turn a full 360 degrees. It’s been my main stay ship on the PC version for a long while now! And served me just as well when I moved to the console version, this has been the golden ship for me in a good chunk of my Star Trek Online career. Speaking of which one of my favourite ships in the franchise was of course Voyagers Prometheus Class, that Multi Vector Assault Mode!! OK so cryptic are assholes and you don’t get a real Prometheus class for free (You gotta by the C-Store Version for that) But still that sleek design, quad pylon nacelle set up and it handles beautifully. It can take a beating and pull aggro quite nicely, but with an incorrect build is more a hindrance than a help. And add to the fact Star Trek First Contact is my favourite Star Trek film, this was a recipe for magic or so I thought! Yea … not so much damn thing handles like it’s flying through treacle not space! Powerful when kitted right yes, good for a tank build maybe? But in terms of experience nope! I was glad when I could finally upgrade. However as I got to playing and eventually getting my hands on those dream ships I found myself very disappointed! My first was the Sovereign Class, I always thought the Enterprise E looked amazing. Before that Bridge Commander was about as close as we got. And of course add that to every trekies dream of being their very own Starship Captain, and this game had all the tools to makes those dreams a reality. I have been playing the game since before it went Free2Play (and when it was owned by Atari!) and on top of that was always looking forward to gaining access to my more favourite ships of the franchise. It’s strange how my brain works sometimes, I was just sorting some bits out on the PC version of STO (Star Trek Online), when it occurred to me.
